Learn more about Lauren Olaya

LAUREN OLAYA

Lauren Olaya joined Swing Clinic in the 2016 season to help golfers from around the country play to their potential.

When she was 11, Lauren was introduced to golf by her longtime neighbor Rufus King, who finished runner-up in the 1949 U.S. Amateur Championship and played in the 1950 Masters and 1950 U.S. Open. Thanks to King’s tutelage, she quickly picked up the game.

Lauren played in her first official golf tournament at the age of 12. She went on to be a standout high school star who twice qualified for the state tournament, where as a freshman, she earned a fourth place finish. Considered one of the top high school golfers in Texas, she won multiple events while in high school, including several victories on the North Texas Junior PGA Tour.

Lauren graduated high school in three years and enrolled at Texas Christian University as a biology major.

In 2012, Lauren turned pro and during her first two years as a professional golfer, she played regularly on the Cactus Tour, finishing as high as eighth place. Two years later, Lauren was a contestant on the Golf Channel’s Big Break Florida.
